The U.S. government uses, Fortune 500 companies use, Heck, even Mormon missionaries to use when learning a new language. What is this program is so effective that people who have never spoken in the language a few months? What is the secret that can unlock your mind and learn any language? This man went from zero knowing Chinese, achieving a high level Chinese test 6 months later! The secret of learning a language is no fancy software, no years of college or high school courses is a total immersion in another language!

As exciting as this realization was, I soon found that it was not an easy task. Most people simply do not have the time or resources to leave their country for a year and a language.

1. Find a friend whose mother tongue is willing to learn with you. The advantage is that it is free and can be fun for you and your friend. The problem is that there is a good chance you do not know who speaks the language you want to learn, or, if you do, they prefer to speak English with you. However, if you know someone you should ask!

2. If you have a friend learning the language, decide not to talk to them in that language when you are together. For example, if you learn Spanish, use only Spanish when they are together. If you do not know a word in the English equivalent, but keep Spanish Grammar. This method can greatly increase your ability to learn a language!

3. A final option is to report to a Web site that you design with a native speaker. If you just want to chat through reading and writing, I would check livemocha.com, they are free and you can chat with people from around the world. The downside is that people often try to learn English, so they expect you to help too. If you have a good website that connects you with both native speakers and other students check cafespeak.com. They focus on the call, so basically you have to use Skype to talk to someone in their native language.

Learning a language immersion can be fun and exciting. Good luck!
